Soil and Water To Host Annual District Meeting

The Scotland County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold their annual meeting on March 4th at the V.F.W. Hall in Memphis. The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. with registration, coffee and donuts.

Paul Campbell, Don Norton, Darla Campbell and Ken Berry will be on the program between 11:00 and 11:30 a.m. to discuss programs that will benefit landowners in Scotland County. The FFA students and creed speaker for the local FFA chapter at Scotland County R-I will be presenting a program at 11:30 a.m. Winners of the essay contest will be announced along with the winners of the poster contest. The Community Bank of Memphis is again sponsoring the poster contest.

A free lunch will be provided at the noon hour to all who attend.

The afternoon speaker will be Bill Chitwood of Sulphur, OK. Bill is a fourth generation Oklahoma farmer. He has been in the dairy business for over 50 years. His hobby throughout the years has been listening to peopleís stories and telling jokes. That has grown into his second career as a humorous motivational speaker. Billís overall wit and wisdom programs inspire and delight audiences as he blends humor, stories, and just plain old common sense into his presentations.

The 13th Annual Clark B. Ewing Conservation Memorial of $300.00 will be given to a local landowner. Election results for Area II and IV will be announced and door prizes will be given at the end of the meeting.
