Skin Cancer Screening At Health Department

A free skin cancer screening will be held at Scotland County Health Department on Wednesday, May 5, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Dr. Cleaverís Department of Dermatology from Kirksville will be offering the free skin cancer screening. For appointment and more information call 660-465-7275.

Tips to prevent skin cancer: Avoid unnecessary sun exposure, especially during the sunís peak hours (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.); Seek the shade; Cover up with clothing, including a broad-brimmed hat, long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and UV-blocking sunglasses; Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or higher; Avoid tanning parlors and artificial tanning devices; Protect your children and teach them sun safety at an early age; Examine your skin from head to toe every month; and have a professional skin examination annually.
