Rotary Club To Host Fishing Derby Saturday

The Scotland County Rotary Club in conjunction with the Missouri Department of Conservation will be hosting a free kids fishing derby at the Memphis City Light Plant on Saturday June 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The event is being co-sponsored by the Kids All-American Fishing Derby, a corporate group headed by Wal-Mart and others such as Zebco, Berkley and Fujifilm. This national package includes hooks, bobbers and other materials for the kids as well as some bigger prizes, like rods and reels and a tackle box.

The prizes will go to the winning participants in the big fish contest and casting competitions.

The event is open to all children ages 12 and under. Bait will be provided along with refreshments. For more information contact Chris Feeney at 660-465-7016.
