Community Players Complete 2004 Summer Production
The Memphis Community Players completed its 29th summer production with My Way (A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra) on July 17.
Elegantly attired singers and musicians featured over 50 vocal, dance, and instrumental selections including “South of the Border,” “That’s Life,” “Dream,” “My Way,” and “New York, New York”. The performers also shared stories about Sinatra’s personal life and career.
The youthfulness of the musicians highlighted the instrumental and vocal performances. Pianist Darla (Mohr) Dixon will begin her fifth year as the musical instructor at Schuyler County R-1, and pianist Michael Fulk will be a senior at Scotland County R-I. Loren Billington, bass guitarist is a sophomore at SCR-I, and drummer Derrick Smith (a Clark County High School graduate) will be a college sophomore.
Another unique feature of the cast was the participation of four mother/daughters are Teresa and Jessie Cotton, Anna Lynn Kirkpatrick and Lynnette Dyer, Jerri Mohr and Darla Dixon, and Carol Trump and Trinity Davis. Jeff and Lynnette Dyer, Joe and Lori Fulk, Kerry and Rebekah Parker, and Frank and Brooke Wineinger were the married couples performing in the musical.
Other cast members included veteran performers Sheila Berkowitz, Lois Bertram, Judy Campbell, Schelle Cooley, Harlo Donelson, JoAnn Peters, and Cole Tippett and newcomers Willy Fisher and Kelli McBee.
MCP production staff members, Debbie Seamster, Kim Smith, and Patricia Coffrin provided lighting, and Irene Kazwara coordinated ticket sales.
