William H. Dixon, M.D. Joins Staff At SCMH

For the second time in less than a year, Scotland County Memorial Hospital has “brought a local boy home.” SCMH C.E.O. Marcia Dial announced this week that William H. Dixon, M.D. has joined the staff at the Memphis hospital.

Dr. Dixon was born and raised in Schuyler County where he will return to practice in addition to his services in Memphis. He has accepted a family practice position at the Lancaster Medical Services clinic, which is owned and operated by SCMH. He will maintain office hours at the Lancaster Clinic on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

In addition, Dr. Dixon will also have a family practice clinic at the Memphis Medical Services on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He will have full staff privileges at SCMH where he will perform deliveries in the “Cradle of Care” birthing center at the hospital and work in the emergency department.

Dr. Dixon’s formal education began in 1994 at the University of Missouri-Kansas City where he sought a Bachelor Degree in Liberal Arts. Dixon stayed at UMKC where he completed medical school in 2001. The doctor performed his internship and residency from July 2001 to June 2004 through Southern Illinois University and the Quincy Family Practice. During these three years Dixon practiced urgent care at the Blessing Hospital Emergency Department and also performed daily didactic residency teaching. He currently is licensed in both Missouri and Illinois.

The Dixon family resides in Memphis. The doctor’s wife, Ann, is a registered nurse. She is from Sullivan. The couple has three children, Andrew, Katelyn and Noah.
