Memphis Family Can Stay Cool After Winning $10,000

A Memphis family can stay cool this summer after winning $10,000 on a Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket. Roger Kaldenberg, 36, said he won $25 on some Scratchers tickets on July 19, so he bought five more $5 tickets with his prize money on July 21, when he stopped at Gas and More, 427 Grand Ave. in Memphis. One of those tickets, from the “$100,000 Riches” game, turned out to be worth $10,000.

“We’re going to have central air-conditioning put in the house,” he said.

Kaldenberg, his wife, Sonia, and their two children plan to buy clothes and school supplies with some of the prize money.

“We might buy a used ski jet,” said Kaldenberg.

Both Roger and Sonia Kaldenberg are employed with Mid-States Engineering Manufacturing in Memphis.
