Bible Grove Preservation Day To Be Held August 21

The traditional weekend of fun known as the Bible Grove Preservation Days has been condensed into one day of entertainment for the 14th annual celebration of the community to be held at the old Bible Grove School Saturday, August 21.

The big day will get an early start as crafters will open displays at 8:00 a.m. The museum room at the school will open to visitors at 10:00 a.m.

A kettle beans and corn bread dinner will be served beginning at noon.

The guns will be blazing starting at 1:00 p.m. when the trap shoot begins. To register for the event contact Tonya Bradley at 883-5700. The Indian Creek Muzzleloaders will also have a black powder shoot at 1:00 p.m.

Donald Norton of Baring will present a historical program on the families of Bible Grove. Harold Boysen of Morning Sun, IA, will give a separate presentation on Indian artifacts. Both programs will run at 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. allowing guests to view both. Tickets are $1 for each show.

At 2:00 p.m. the dime toss will begin and the jailhouse will open. There will be other entertainment for the children as well. Cakes will begin walking home via the cake walk at 4:00 p.m.

The evening entertainment will follow the fish fry that begins at 6:00 p.m. The Harvest Band with Lonnie and Jessica Erwin will take the stage at 8:00 p.m.

There will be a raffle drawing for the afghan as well as a 50/50 drawing at 9:00 p.m.
