Crusade Raises $6,828 To Fight Cancer

Scotland County residents raised more than $6,800 for the American Cancer Society through the Community Crusade, a door-to-door fundraising campaign held this summer. All of the proceeds from the campaign support the American Cancer Society’s research, education, advocacy, and patient service programs.

Community council chairperson Arleta Dye and Community Crusade co-chairs Maxine Cook and Dorothy Harvey initiated the campaign for Scotland County.

“The American Cancer Society has invested over $2.5 billion in cancer research since our research program began in 1946,” said Brenda Carlin, income development specialist for the American Cancer Society. “Events like the Scotland County Community Crusade help fund this research, and ultimately, bring us closer to a cure for cancer”.

If you would like more information on the American Cancer Society programs and services, please call Brenda Carlin at 800-684-2733.

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer.
