Traffic Crash Numbers Down Across Troop B

The Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated three traffic accidents in Scotland County in September. That brought the total number of crash investigations in the county by the Patrol to 33 in 2004.

There were two persons injured in the crashes, bringing the total number of accident-related injuries to 18 for the year with no fatalities.

Scotland County has the lowest accident totals in the 16-county Troop B Region of the Patrol. Neighboring Knox County has reported 34 accidents while Clark County had nine crash investigations in September, including two fatalities, to bring its total to 84 crashes this year.

Overall, accident statistics are down in 2004 in the region. There have been 1,397 crash investigations by the Patrol in Troop B in 2004. That is down from 1,559 at the same point in 2003. Despite four fatalities in Troop B in September, traffic-related deaths are down from 35 at this point in 2003 to 28 this year.
