Diver Helps Recover Truck At Lake Show-Me

Two duck hunters escaped injury early Sunday morning when the truck they were using to back a boat down the ramp at Lake Show-Me in Memphis went out of control and rolled into the water.

According to the Memphis Police Department, the accident occurred at approximately 7:00 a.m. November 28. The vehicle was completely submerged.

A diver from Moberly arrived at the scene at 11:00 a.m. He was able to locate the truck and to connect a tow cable to the vehicle. Dynamite’s wrecker service extricated the truck.

Lake Show-Me serves as the city’s water source. Superintendent Dennis Howard stated the water intake at the lake was closed following the accident. The city drew from the water basin at the treatment plant during the extrication process.

“There was no gas leak from the truck so any contamination from the accident was minimal,” Howard stated assuring city water customers that their water quality was not affected.
