BESSIE MAUDE BOISE

Bessie Maude Boise, 101, of Memphis, MO, died December 27, 2003, in her daughter’s home in Memphis, MO.

The daughter of Edward and Clara Reedy, she was born on July 6, 1902 at Bible Grove, MO.

She attended Memphis schools and graduated from Memphis High School.

In 1922 she was married to Hubert A. Boise, who preceded her in death in 1983. They resided on a farm northeast of Memphis, MO until her health failed and began residence in the Scotland County Care Center for two and a half years. Bessie and Hubert had one daughter, Vera Elaine Boise Smith. Bessie made her home with her daughter the last 20 months of her life.

She is survived by one granddaughter, Diana Elaine Koontz and her husband, George of Memphis, MO; three great-grandchildren, Leora Elaine Ruckman and husband, Scott of Omaha, NE, Robert Allan Scott and wife, Lynette of Greeley, NE, and Kevin Lee Koontz of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by three great-great-grandchildren, Kamen McManus, Karleigh Ann and Kobe Allan Scott.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert A. Boise; her parents; two brothers; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held December 29, 2003, at Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO, with Rev. David Hartsfield officiating. Music was provided by Joan Hinds, organist, and Jessie Cotton, soloist. Pallbearers were George Eggers, Patrick Hines, Phil Aylward, William (Bud) Garrett, Tom Owings, and Phil Duley. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Shanes, Greg Eggers, and Guy Gardine. Interment was in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO. Memorials to Alzheimer’s Association and the Scotland County Larger Parish of the United Methodist Church, Memphis United Methodist Church Bell Choir and may be left at or mailed to Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.
