WANDA LOUINE BYRN
(10/5/1929 - 1/9/2004)




Wanda Louine Byrn, 74, of rural Downing, MO, passed away at her home on January 9, 2004.

The daughter of Earl and Maude A. (Schaffer) Pyle, she was born near Macon, MO, on October 5, 1929.

On December 24, 1948, she was united in marriage to Jimmie Byrn. To this union two sons, Winifred J. and William E. and one daughter, Denise were born.

Wanda and Jimmie lived all of their married life on the farm south of Downing, MO. Wanda attended college for one year following her graduation from high school. She also taught school for a time. Wanda enjoyed being a CNA at the Schuyler County Nursing Home until her retirement, cake decorating and helping her family and friends throughout the neighborhood. She was a member of the Church of God Seventh Day of Gifford, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Byrn on September 15, 1997; both parents; one sister, Blanche Helton; three brothers-in-law, Earl Berry, Robert Mossbarger and Howard Slaughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise Garrett and her husband, Gary of Glenwood, MO; her two sons, Winifred J. Byrn and his wife, Martha of rural Greentop, MO and William E. Byrn and his wife, Nancy of Queen City, MO; nine grandchildren, Nathan Byrn and wife, Kelly, Cory Byrn and wife, Robin, Damon Byrn and wife, Kelly, Adam Byrn and wife, Jessica, April and husband, David Backer, Carol Garrett, Laura and husband, Jerrod Willier, Christina and husband, Robert Miller and Patricia Garrett; eight great-grandchildren; eight sisters and one brother, Thelma and husband, Tom Lacer of Laclede, MO, Dorothy Berry of LaPlata, MO, Margarie Mossbarger of LaPlata, MO, Clifford Smith and wife, Margaret of Peck, ID, Alice Slaughter of Kirksville, MO, Gladys and husband, Paul Phipps of Kirksville, MO, Alma and husband, Bruno Amedie of Bevier, MO, Joyce and husband, Alvin Walgreen of Brookfield, MO, Ruth and husband, Willard Hawkins of Kirksville, MO, and brother-in-law, Milford Helton of LaPlata, MO.

Funeral services were held January 13, 2004 at the Norman Funeral Home in Downing, MO, with Keith Siddens officiating. Music was provided by organists, Betty Anderson and soloist, Schelle Cooley. Pallbearers were her grandsons, which include Nathan Byrn, Cory Bryn, Damon Byrn, Adam Byrn, Robert Miller and Jerrod Willier and David Backer. Memorials have been established for the Coffey Cemetery or to the American Cancer Society. Burial was in the Coffey Cemetery south of Downing, MO. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Downing, MO.
