Anna Mae Montgomery, 91, of Burlington, IA, passed away February 22, 2004, at Rosebush Gardens Health Center, Burlington, IA.

She was born September 15, 1912, at Memphis, MO, a daughter of William Jesse and Molly I. (Arnold) Montgomery.

Anna Mae began her 44-year teaching career in rural Missouri schools for 11 years, then taught elementary at Grimes School in Burlington, IA. She retired in 1982.

She was affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church of Burlington, IA.

Anna Mae graduated from Scotland County High School, received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College and her Masters degree from the University of Iowa.

She is survived by a nephew, James Max (Kayla) Montgomery of Mystic, IA; niece, Janice K. (Allen) Shahan of Winterset, IA; and a niece-in-law, Beth Montgomery.

Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2004, at 11:30 a.m. in Lunning Chapel, in Burlington, IA, with Rev. Dr. Forrest Krummel officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2004, at the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO. A memorial has been established in Anna Mae’s memory.
