BETTY JO SHIBLEY BANISTER
(6/28/1923 - 3/13/2004)



Betty Jo Shibley Banister, 80, passed away March 13, 2004, at Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, FL.

She was born June 8, 1923, a daughter of John E. and Lorena Melany Shibley.

Betty Jo was a graduate of Gorin High School, Gorin, MO, in the class of 1941. She was a graduate of the University of Missouri in 1945. After college she went to work for Government Services, Inc. in Washington, DC, as a supervisor in a cafeteria, retiring in 1973.

In 1956 she became a member of Mt. Olive Methodist Church in Arlington, VA.

She was a member of the Gorin Alumni, University of Missouri Alumni Association and Highland Lakes Property Owners Group.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Bill Banister; one sister, Sue Jane Hoskinson (Paul) of Freeport, IL; two brothers, John P. Shibley (Helen) of Freeport, IL, and George Shibley (Margaret) of Horseshoe Bend, AR; many nieces and nephews, whom she cherished. She was a lovable and generous person and will be missed by all who knew her.

A family memorial service was held March 17, 2004, near a fountain in the Garden Mausoleum of her interment, and conducted by Deacon Gayne, assisted by Jann and Paul Lowry and Charlene Cilbertson.
