DONALD (DON) W. NEWLAND
(2/10/1932 – 4/26/2004)



Donald (Don) W. Newland, 72, of Macon, MO, passed away April 26, 2004, at the Samaritan Hospital in Macon, MO.

Don was born February 10, 1932, the son of Elmer and Grace Bennett Newland in Schuyler County, MO.

Don served seven years in the US Army, which included 14 months in the Korean War.

He married Hazel Newman in 1949. He later married Jeanette Thomas in 1988.

Don moved to Macon, MO in 1972 and retired from Sutton Motors as a service manager. Don formerly served as a board member of the Long Branch Lake Board.

He will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; one son, Ricky Don Newland of Columbia, MO, and four daughters, Lynda Sapp and her husband, John of Macon, MO, Karen Bradley and her husband, Jerry of Excello, MO, Donna Spencer and her husband, Alan of Macon, MO, and Diana Stonecipher and her husband, Mike of Macon, MO; two step-sons, Mike Thomas and his wife, Angie and Pat Thomas and his wife, Jackie, all of Columbia, MO; three step-daughters, Marva Maddex and her husband, Don of Lentner, MO, Carla Wegman of Shelbina, MO, Diana Tallman and her husband, Danny of Hannibal, MO; 11 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Judy Archer and her husband, John of Ottumwa, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Eugene Newland; one sister, Imogene Miller; and one infant granddaughter.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 29, 2004, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Greening-Eagan- Hayes Funeral Home in Macon, MO.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 30, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Macon, MO, with Lay Speaker Larry DeSpain officiating. Burial will be in the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO with military honors. The family suggests memorials to the Randy Johnson Memorial Fund, which may be left at the funeral home.
