Gertrude Helen (Kraus) Myers, 94, of Kahoka, formerly of Wyaconda, died May 9, 2004, at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka.

She was born the daughter of George Leo and Mary Edythe (Hume) Kraus of Scotland County on October 29, 1909.

Helen married Clyde Myers on August 23, 1932.

Helen was a member of the Wyaconda Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school classes and worked at Bible school for many years.

She graduated from the Wyaconda High School and Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in Kirksville, MO. Following her college graduation, she became a teacher and taught for about 40 years. She taught at Knox County for five years, Scotland County for four years, Newark for four years, Wyaconda C-1 for seven years, and Clark County R-1 for 20 years.

Her parents preceded her in death.

She is survived by her many dear friends, cousins, and her beloved former students.

Funeral services were held May 12, 2004 at the Wyaconda Baptist Church with Rev. Ernest Deatrick and Rev. Gerald Davidson officiating. Special music was provided by Elizabeth Brookhart, pianist, Barbara Anderson, organist, and John Spray, guitarist. Serving as pallbearers were Lee Lemmon, Mark Lemmon, Michael Lemmon, Larry Robertson, David Alderton, and David Robertson. Interment was in the Wyaconda Cemetery, Wyaconda, MO. Memorials have been suggested to the Wyaconda Cemetery or to the Wyaconda Baptist Church and may be mailed to or left at Gerth Funeral Service, 115 South Main, Memphis, MO 63555.
