THOMAS HENRY JONES
(4/12/1907 – 5/24/2004)



Thomas Henry Jones, 97, died May 24, 2004, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO, where he had been a resident since January, 2003.

He was born April 12, 1907 at Shenandoah, IA to Winfield S. and Marriam B. Gibbs Jones.

He married Amelia A. Davis on January 1, 1929 in Keokuk, IA. To this union three children were born: Laura, Marriam “Babe”, and Thomas D. She died in 1935. He married Margaret Mikesell and to this union two children, Michael L. and Kristine were born. They later divorced. He married Mary Alice Bridgeman on June 5, 1970 in Cedar Rapids, IA. They lived in Keosauqua, IA from 1970 to March 1976, when they moved to Canton, MO. She died September 1978.

Thomas was a welder for Midwest Carbide in Keokuk, IA. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He lived in Kirksville, MO for 14 years and moved to Memphis, MO in March of 2002, residing at Senior Haven.

Survivors include his children, Laura Gallup of Marion, IA, Marriam “Babe” Gregory and her husband, Bob of Memphis, MO, Thomas D. Jones and his wife, Marilyn of Keokuk, IA, Michael L. Jones and his wife, Ronnie of New Berlin, WI and Kristine Jones of North Liberty, IA; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Leonard Jones of Keokuk, IA.

He was preceded in death by his wives; two sisters, Irene Downs and Jenny Starnes; two brothers, Jack Jones and Bob Jones; and three grandchildren, Steve Gregory, Michael Jones, and Karen Gregory.

Funeral services were held in the Memphis Funeral Home in Memphis, MO on May 27, 2004 with Reverend Charles Hammack officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk, IA. Casket bearers were Bradley Gregory, Albert Winn, Roger Gosney, Tom Priebe, Max Bruner, and Joe Coulter. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice and may be left at or mailed to the Memphis Funeral Home, 378 South Market Street, Memphis, MO. Memphis Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
