George M. “Mic” Herring, 46, died June 5, 2004, at the Sabetha Community Hospital, Sabetha, KS.

He was born on August 26, 1957, the son of Louis Herring and Vada Elliott Herring at Keokuk, IA.

He attended elementary schools in Granger, MO and attended and graduated from Scotland County High School, Memphis, MO, in the class of 1975. He was active in sports while in school earning 26 letters.

On November 6, 1983, he was united in marriage to Kimberly Ann Frederick at Memphis, MO. They lived for many years in Iowa and Missouri and in 1999, he began employment with Keim TS Trucking in Ft. Dodge, IA and in 2000 they relocated to Sabetha, KS. He was an avid sports fan whether it be, NASCAR, Kansas City Chiefs or the Boston Celtics. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sabetha, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Survivors include his wife, Kim of the home in Sabetha, KS; two brothers, Gene Gray of Memphis, MO and Gary Johnson of Kahoka, MO; three sisters, Kathy Jenkins of Quincy, IL, Vicki Gray of Wayland, MO, and Mary Beth Hoyt of Lancaster, MO.

Funeral services were held June 8, 2004 at the First United Methodist Church in Sabetha, KS. Interment was in the Albany Cemetery, north of Sabetha, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary.
