Edith May Ralph, 98, longtime Scotland County resident, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2004, in the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.

The daughter of Perry Ed and Effie May (Richardson) Couch, she was born on December 2, 1905, in Scotland County, MO.

Upon the death of her mother, she raised her younger brother, Perry Madison Couch. On January 5, 1926, she was married to Wayne Ralph in Memphis, MO. She helped her husband with the farming and livestock.

Edith enjoyed crocheting and she taught her great-grandson, David, to crochet. She also enjoyed quilting and sewing.

She was a member of the McAdow Presbyterian Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband in March 1979; and two sisters, Irene Bissell and Lavaughn De Maransville.

Survivors include her two daughters, Beulah Jackson of Memphis, MO and Catherine Ralph of Memphis, MO; her brother, Perry M. Couch of Ashland, Nebraska; her grandson, Larry and wife Shellie Jackson of Memphis, MO; her great-grandson, David and wife Jodie Jackson of Memphis, MO; two nieces and one nephew.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. in the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO. Rev. Leon Buford officiated. Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Gene Brown, Mike Walker, Brian Briggs, Richard Briggs, Joe Tom Walker, and Dr. Larry Wiggens, D.V.M.

Memorials have been suggested to the Scotland County Care Center and may be left at or mailed to Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main, Memphis, MO 63555.
