JACK EDWIN GIVENS

Jack Edwin Givens, 72, of Memphis, MO, died June 26, 2004, in his home.

Jack was born January 12, 1932, at Rutledge, MO, to Harold Earl and Helen Juanita Armstrong Givens.

He attended school in Rutledge, MO, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

On August 25, 1953, he was united in marriage to Beverly Price Peterson at Kahoka, MO. To this union five children were born.

Jack was a truck driver all of his working life.

During his free time, Jack enjoyed camping, boating, water skiing, riding motorcycles, restoring and detailing vehicles and visiting with his friends at the coffee shop.

Jack and Beverly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2003. Most of all Jack enjoyed his family and will be sadly missed.

Jack was a member of the Rutledge Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly of Memphis, MO; a son, Jeffrey L. Givens and wife, Ruth of Rutledge, MO; three daughters, Barbara J. Chance and husband, Robert of Memphis, MO, Jackie R. Doubet and husband, Joe of Arbela, MO, and Jeanne M. Holt and husband, Jamie of Arbela, MO; 13 grandchildren, Shannon Givens, Amber Wilmington, Kaleena Reaser, Corie Atchley, Craig Swearingen, Daniel Chance, Brandon Givens, Michelle Givens, Jordyn Doubet, Caleb Doubet, Joshua Holt, Josie Holt, and Jessie Holt; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Patty Marra; a son, Joseph Edwin Givens; and a great-grandson, Joseph Aden Reaser.

Funeral services were held June 30, 2004, in the Memphis Funeral Home, Memphis, MO, with Pastor Dan Hite officiating. Vocalists were Jackie Doubet, Jana Muntz and Sandra Swearingen. Accompanist will be Helen Bissell. Cremation will follow the service. Honorary bearers were Robert Chance, Joe Doubet, Brandon Givens, Shannon Givens, Jamie Holt, and Craig Swearingen. As an expression of sympathy a memorial may be given to Hospice of Northeast Missouri or Pauline Cemetery at Rutledge, MO. Memphis Funeral Home, Memphis, MO was in charge of arrangements.
