M. Lucille Buford, 65, of Fairfield, IA, passed away July 9, 2004, in her home after a long battle with cancer.

She was born March 6, 1939, at Gorin, MO, to John E. and Velma Stogsdill Peterson.

She married Donald L. Buford, October 19, 1962, in Memphis, MO.

She graduated from Gorin High School, Gorin, MO, was a homemaker and worked many years at Fairfield Glove Co. and lived all her married life in Fairfield, IA.

Surviving are her husband; son, Michael Buford and wife, Tammy of Fairfield, IA; four step-children, Debbie L. Douglas and M. Kathy Beacraft and husband, Mike, all of Memphis, MO, Donald L. Buford II and wife, Twyla of Columbia, MO, and Terry G. Buford and wife, Marlene of Fairfield, IA; a sister, Mary Bell Simpson and husband, Clark of Memphis, MO, and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Wanda Camp, Betty Mathis, and Dorothy Peterson.

The body was cremated. Graveside services were held July 13, 2004 in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA, with Pastor Jim Wotherspoon officiating. Memorials have been suggested to Hospice of Central Iowa and they may be mailed to the family at 200 North 28th St., No. 38, Fairfield, IA 52556. Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, IA, was in charge of arrangements.
