DENNIS MEEK

Dennis Meek, 48, of West Liberty, IA, formerly of Baring, MO, died suddenly July 6, 2004, at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, IA.

Dennis was born July 13, 1955, in Fairfax, MO, the son of Ed and Pauline Rinehart Meek.

He graduated in 1973 from Knox County High School in Edina, MO, and Northeast Missouri State University in 1978 with his B.S. in Agronomy. He had been employed with U.A.P. in Atalissa as an Agronomist.

He was married to Rebecca Tonnies in 1974. The couple had two children, Christopher and Melissa. Dennis later married Shelly Yardley on December 18, 1993, in Marengo, IA.

He was a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Shelly Meek of West Liberty, IA; four children, Christopher Meek of St. Joseph, MO, Melissa Meek of Columbia, MO, Nicole Chisam of Aurora, CO, and Jillian Shields of Floris, IA; his mother, Pauline Meek of Memphis, MO; one brother, Dan Meek of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren, Jacob Loffer, Alexis Chisam, Desiree Chisam, Harley Shields, Sarah Mullaney, Sierra Mullaney, and Sahara Mullaney; several aunts and uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services were held July 9, 2004, at the Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty, IA. Graveside services were held July 10, 2004, at the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO, with Pastor Terry Lippstreu officiating. Arrangements were handled by the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO.
