IRENE HAZEL CAMP

Irene Hazel Camp, 89, of Memphis, MO, formerly of Jerseyville, IL, passed away July 26, 2004, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.

Irene was born on January 7, 1915, in Jersey County, IL, the daughter of Charles R. and Christina B. Green.

In January 1946, she married George E. Camp and they resided in Jerseyville, IL, until 1954 when they moved to Memphis, MO, where they were engaged in farming. He preceded her in death.

Irene is survived by two daughters, Rosemary Crowe and her husband, Jim and Shirley Pille and her husband, John, all of Jerseyville, IL; one step-son, Bill Camp of Memphis, MO; four grandchildren, David Pille of Kane, IL, Karen Laird and Randy Smith, both of Jerseyville, IL, and Jackie Hertweck of Ormand, FL; two step-granddaughters, Kim Newcomer and Debbie Fogle, both of Memphis, MO; five great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Albrecht and Florence Zerby, both of Jerseyville, IL.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Elmer Green; a granddaughter, Sherry Karrick; and a step-granddaughter, Heather Fogle.

The family has suggested memorials to the Scotland County Care Center and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Graveside services were held July 28, 2004, at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Jerseyville, IL, with Father William Hembrow officiating. Local arrangements were handled by the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO.
