Orville Lee Aylward, 88, of Memphis, MO, died August 22, 2004, at Scotland County Memorial Hospital, Memphis, MO.

Lee was born September 30, 1915, in Scotland County, MO, the son of Loyd and Florence Rugh Aylward.

He married Marjorie Williams on October 18, 1936, and to this union four children were born.

Mr. Aylward was engaged in farming his entire life. He spent many years tractor pulling in the surrounding states. He made and maintained many friendships through tractor pulling. He was a lifetime member of Tractor Pullers of Missouri, Iowa Tractor Pulling Association, and Twin States Tractor Pullers.

Mr. Aylward was a member of the Memphis United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Marjorie of Memphis, MO; four children, Phil and his wife Joyce of Memphis, MO; Dorothy White and her husband, Allen of Bloomfield, IA; Ed and his wife, Linda of Kansas City, MO; Earl and his wife, Mary Lee of Jackson, MN; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and great-great-grandpa. He dearly loved every one of them and he will be truly missed.

The family has suggested memorials to the Memphis United Methodist Church or to the donor’s choice, and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Funeral services were held August 25, 2004, at the Memphis United Methodist Church, Memphis, MO with Pastor Terry Lippstreu officiating. Music was by Joan Hinds, organist, and Pastor Terry Lippstreu, soloist. Pallbearers were Scott Aylward, Jeff White, Craig White, Todd White, Stephen Aylward, Jared White, Tony Grimmius, and Chuck Yates. Honorary bearers were David Long, Tom Pieper, Tom Riebel, Steve Morris, Gerald Kaldenberg, Tom DeBerry, Raymond Parker, Mike Aylward, Laddie Briscoe, and Don Troutman. Interment was in the Memphis Cemetery.
