ADA E. HARRINGTON
(4/6/1916 - 9/7/2004)



Ada E. Harrington, 88, a resident of Chillicothe, MO, passed away at Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, MO, September 7, 2004.

She was born near Dawn, MO, April 6, 1916, the daughter of Charles B. and Ethel Perryman Jones.

She married Burch Harrington of Atlanta, MO, at her family home near Dawn on June 27, 1937. To this union seven children were born.

Her primary interest was her family but she was also active in church and community organizations for many years. She served as a 4-H leader and Brownie Scout leader, as an American Cancer Society 25-year volunteer, as co-chairman of meals-on-wheels for First Baptist Church in Chillicothe and as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and missions group leader in the Baptist churches where she was a member. She also served as church secretary of the Omaha Baptist Church near Unionville for about 15 years.

She was a graduate of Chillicothe High School in 1933 and attended the University of Missouri-Columbia 1934-1937.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Burch Harrington of Chillicothe, MO; five of her children, Larry Harrington and wife, Patsy of Fayette, MO, Harvey Harrington and wife, Norma of Dawn, MO, Jane Montgomery and husband, Gail of Belton, MO, Elaine Starr and husband, Frank of Raytown, MO, and John Harrington and wife, Jane of Parkville, MO; son-in-law, Charles Brundage of Green Castle, MO; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren; her brother, Paul H. Jones and wife, Margaret of Dawn, MO; her sister, Ellen F. Jones and husband, David Wendell; several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Nathan Harrington; daughter, Phyllis Ruth May Brundage; a son-in-law, Dean L. May; and two granddaughters.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church, Chillicothe, MO, on September 11, 2004. Burial was in the Steele Cemetery, Atlanta, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, The Baptist Home or to the American Diabetes Association and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, MO 64601.
