GARNET I. SCHLEETER

Garnet I. Schleeter, of Memphis, MO, passed away October 22, 2004, in the Scotland County Care Center, Memphis, MO.

The daughter of Vere Alfa and Anna Rose (Yeager) Towne, she was born September 28, 1915, in Kilbourne, IA. She attended the Oak Grove School in Kilbourne.

On February 26, 1936, she was married to John H. Schleeter in Keosauqua, IA, They had celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this year.

Garnet was a dedicated 4-H leader for over 20 years and was active in the Mt. Moriah Ladies Aid. She loved to embroider and quilt; was an avid gardener and a lover of flowers. Garnet enjoyed writing and receiving letters and also was an avid picture taker.

As a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she cherished the time that was spent with her family. She will be remembered as kindhearted and a giver of herself to family and friends in the community.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Wayne Schleeter; and two sisters, Arlene Church and Charlotte Bratton.

Survivors include her husband; two children; Carroll L. Schleeter and wife, Mary of Prairie Home, MO, and Brenda Winn and husband, Wayne of Memphis, MO; eight grandchildren and families, Aleatha Meyers of Columbia, MO, John Schleeter of Gaithersburg, MD, Beth Ferrier of Ashburn, VA, Melissa Carpenter, Shaun Schleeter, and David Schleeter of Columbia, MO, and Kaylan and Justin Winn of Memphis, MO; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Bratton of Moline, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 29, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. in the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO, with Pastor Jim Campbell officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service in the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO. Special music will be provided by Joe Fulk, organist, and Lori Fulk, vocalist. Serving as pallbearers will be John Schleeter, David Schleeter, Shaun Schleeter, Justin Winn, Jim Myers, Sam Walker, and Mike Ferrier. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Douds, IA.

Memorials have been suggested to the family or to the Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main, Memphis, MO 63555.
