DOROTHY A. BENDLAGE
(4/20/1908 11/3/2004)



Dorothy Alice Kutzner, daughter of Walter Lawrence and Mary Helena Luman Kutzner, was born on April 20, 1908 at Brock, in Scotland County, MO.

She attended school in Scotland County and graduated from high school at Gorin, MO.

She married Bernard T. Bendlage on February 14, 1929, in Fort Madison, IA. They resided there their entire married life. Her husband died January 7, 1986.

Dorothy worked for the Sheaffer Pen Company with 31 years of service. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Altar and Rosary Society, Catholic Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and Daughters of Isabella. She loved to bowl, doing so for more than 60 years.

She passed away November 3, 2004 at the home of her daughter, Elizabeth Idleman at Homer, IL. Services were at Sacred Heart Church, November 6, 2004 with Rev. Thomas Parlette officiating.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Lewis) Idelman of Homer, IL; three grandsons, six great-grandchildren, three sisters, Helen Kutzner Chambers, Grace Kutzner Cameron, Estalene Kutzner Kugler, all of Memphis, MO, and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and one son, Donald B. Bendlage; and three brothers, Paul, George and Vane Kutzner; three sisters, Thelma Kutzner Keiser, Evon Kutzner Howe and Faye Kutzner See.

Pallbearers were Sean Gray, Tyler Gray, Todd Chewning, Larry Howe, Mike See, and Gary See. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fort Madison, IA.
