CLAIRE BOLTON

Claire Bolton, 90, of Lancaster, MO, passed away at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, MO, December 6, 2004.

The daughter of James Walter and Lora (Meredith) Lewis, she was born on May 8, 1914 in rural Downing, MO.

Following graduation from the Downing High School in Downing, MO, Claire married Glen Wells Bolton and to this union four children were born.

Claire is survived by her daughter, Jane Bolton Sullivan of Lancaster, MO; two sons, James Lewis Bolton and wife, Beverly of Kirksville, MO and John Richard Bolton and wife, Arlene of Lake Ozarks, MO; five grandchildren, Brian Lewis Bolton, Beth Ann Teno, Jeffrey Glen Bolton, Lora Kae Becker and Kyle Owen Sullivan; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Tallarico of Keokuk, IA; 16 nieces and nephews, one of whom made her home with Claire for several years, who is Jean Ann Nelson of Huntsville, AL; one sister-in-law, and Jewell Lewis of Lancaster, MO.

Claire was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse, Glen W. Bolton on December 5, 1980; one infant son; two brothers, Berl and Floyd Lewis; and one sister, Ella B. Snowbarger.

Claire was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Lancaster Garden Club and PEO. She also attended the Lancaster Christian Church. She served on the board of the Schuyler County Nutrition Site and Schuyler County Historical Society.

A memorial has been established for the Schuyler County Historical Society. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO.
