Blomme Leads Tigers JV Team To 44-39 Victory

The annual Saturday morning junior varsity contest between Scotland County and Canton can be a shock to the players systems when they are used to playing night games.

But the morning start time was well worth it for the Tigers who bested Canton 44-39.

Bryce Blomme scored seven of his team-high 13 points in the first period as SCR-I built a 12-7 advantage. The Tigers never relinquished the lead even though Canton narrowed the lead to 21-19 at halftime. Lathan Watson hit four free throws and Marcus Shalley nailed three from the charity stripe as all nine second quarter points for SCR-I came on free throws.

Six different Tigers got into the score book in the third period as SCR-I built a 34-27 lead. Canton outscored SCR-I 12-10 in the final eight minutes but it wasn’t enough as SCR-I held on for the win.

Blomme led the way with 13 points. Watson scored 10 points on the day while Matt Wickert contributed eight. Eight different Tigers scored in the game.
