Midgets Stand Tall In 4th Quarter Of Win Over SCR-I

After a disappointing start to league play, the Scotland County Lady Tigers nearly pulled off a conference upset, going to the wire with state ranked Putnam County, February 6 in Unionville.

SCR-I trailed by just two points heading into the fourth quarter before the Lady Midgets finally pulled away for the 58-49 victory.

Scotland County bombed away from behind the three-point arc, hitting seven three pointers on the night to stay with Putnam County.

Unfortunately the Midgets did well from behind the arc as well. All-conference performer Katie Fowler did the bulk of the damage, nailing five three pointers in the contest en route to a game high 28 points.

Fowler and Brook Schultz combined for 46 of Putnam County’s points on the evening.

Schultz helped The Lady Midgets take a 16-14 lead to close the first quarter. Two teams were evenly matched from that point. Both squads scored 14 points in the second period before slowing things down a bit for just nine points per team in the third quarter.

Ali Fromm scored 20 points to pace Scotland County. Valerie Crawford finished with 11 points and Jessie Cotton added nine for the Lady Tigers who dropped to 8-10 and 0-2 in league play.
