Show-Me Speedway Completes Big Weekend
Show-Me Speedway featured not one, but two nights of racing action this past weekend. The karts took to the track for the regular Saturday night show on August 7 and then returned Sunday for a special money race sponsored by Jepson Lumber Company and Hutchinson Motor Sports.
There were 51 entries on Saturday night including the 99 kart of Tyler Griesbaum, which took first place in the Jr. 1 Light class and finished third in the Junior 1 Heavy. Rachel Shahan was second and Mitch Kriegshauser was third in the light class while Trever McKern and Dylan Kriegshauser were first and second in the heavy race.
The Junior II race was won by the #24 kart of Schuyler Cavender. Wes Golden (#3) was second and John Fox (#1) was third.
Ashley Hutchinson took the checkered flag in the Stock class. She beat Andrew Hays and Ron Tennyson.
The Rookie class race went to Elliot O’Neal in the #8 kart. He held off Alex Macomber in the #21 and Kyle Miller in the #27 kart.
The Over 40 race was won by Mike Thelen. The #56 kart bested Rhea Golden in the #711 and Curtis Cavender in the #24.
The Schuyler County Ambulance Service won $89.50 in the 50/50 drawing.
Many of the same drivers returned for the Sunday event which featured 33 entries. Jepson Lumber sponsored trophies for first and second. Show-Me Speedway provided trophies for third through fifth spot while Hutchinson Motor Sports presented last place trophies.
Mitch Kriegshauser earned the win in the Junior 1 race ahead of Rachel Shahan and Aaron Penick. In the Junior I Heavy race it was Trevor McKern holding off Andy Garrett and Greg Tuggle for the win.
Ashley Hutchinson made it two-in-a-row with another win on Sunday in the Stock division. She bested Jennie Hutchinson, Andrew Hays, Ron Tennyson and Josh Morgan.
The other three classes also featured five-kart races.
Rhea Golden took home the Over-40 first place trophy. She finished ahead of Mike Thelen, David Kirkpatrick, Tom Thelen and Jim Hagar.
Wes Golden topped the Junior II race in the #3 kart. Seth Shahan earned second followed by John Fox, Teresa Hagar and Jared Fox.
The Stock Heavy Class win went to Andrew Hays in the #25 kart. He finished ahead of Josh Morgan, Jim Hagar, Blake Stiles and David Vanlaningham.
S & L Collectibles donated die cast cars, which were won by Marla Shahan, Judi Bishop, Brittany Thelen and Trevor McKern.
The 50/50 drawing was won by Larry Hopkins of Bloomfield, IA.
Show-Me Speedway will be in action again this Saturday, August 14 to make up the July 24 rain out.
