SCR-I Softball Team Wins On Senior Night
The Scotland County softball team guaranteed a winning conference season, sending the seniors out in style with a 3-0 win over Schuyler County in the Lady Tigers 2004 home finale.
As has been the key in Scotland County’s recent winning streak, the offense struck early, scoring three times in the first inning.
Ali Fromm opened the game with a triple over the leftfielder’s head. Rebecca Consbrock walked in front of a base hit by Valerie Crawford to plate the first run. Jamie Fuller delivered the second and third tallies when she doubled into right field.
That proved to be all the run support Consbrock needed. She fanned 11 batters and allowed just two hits on senior night.
The SCR-I defense secured the shutout with some fine glove work to close the game. Consbrock fielded a comebacker. She froze the runner at third and then threw to first for the second out. Fuller then relayed home to Jessica Bair. The freshman catcher blocked the plate perfectly to nail the runner for the final out.
