Gorin Home Destroyed By Fire Sunday Morning

A Gorin home was completely destroyed by an early morning fire Sunday, January 23. A shell is all that remains of the Rick Frederick residence.

Gorin Fire Chief Mike Parrish stated his department was notified of the blaze at 12:20 a.m. Windy and cold conditions hampered the departmentís efforts to extinguish the blaze.

At 12:38 a mutual aid call went out to the Scotland County Fire Department to send a tanker truck for additional water. A pumper truck was also sent after one of the Gorin fire trucks began experiencing icing problems.

At 12:43 the Rutledge Fire Department was also contacted and asked to send aid.

Parrish stated there were 20 or more firemen that helped battle the blaze. His department was on the scene until approximately 6:30 a.m.
