City Of Downing To Hold Budget Hearing

The board of the City of Downing convened on February 7, with Mayor Sabin presiding. Others present were Aldermen Seamster, Poe, Fry and Arnold; Danny Buford, Carolyn Anderson, Tommy Anderson, Gene Bruner, Willa Mae Gooden, Bobby Garrett and Doug Ruth.

The minutes were approved as written, payment of bills allowed, reports and statement reviewed. The general fund and water fund budgets were revised and tentatively approved. There will be a public budget hearing at 6:15 p.m. February 21, at City Hall.

Collection of water bills, removing an unused water meter well and hydrant (as requested), ditching, road tubes and street repairs in “Elm Town” and on 17th Street were discussed. Possibilities of compiling a book of policies will be looked into.

Carolyn informed the board of the DNR water system inspection that was done last Thursday (February 3).

We are looking for volunteers to help take our Christmas lights down. If interested you may contact Tommy Anderson.

Meeting adjourned.

Willa M. Gooden, City Clerk
