Scotland County Teams To Open District Play Tuesday Night

Both Scotland County basketball teams will open the Class 2 District 5 Tournament on Tuesday evening, March 1st at the host school, Schuyler County.

The Lady Tigers were awarded the second seed in the event and will take on seventh seed LaPlata at 6:00 p.m.

The boys, who were seeded sixth, will open the bracket against number three seed LaPlata. The tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

On the girls side of the bracket it was Milan that earned the opening round bye as the #1 seed. The Wildcats will play the winner of the Schuyler County (fourth seed) vs. Princeton (fifth seed) game scheduled for February 28 at 7:30 p.m.

The other first round contest will pit Canton (third seed) against Knox County (sixth seed) at 4:30 p.m. February 28th.

With an opening win, the Lady Tigers would play at 7:30 p.m. on March 3rd against the winner of the Canton vs. Knox County game. Milanís second round game vs. either Schuyler County or Princeton, will tip off at 4:30 p.m. March 3rd.

The girls championship game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on March 5th.

On the boysí side of the bracket, the first round games will be:

Schuyler County (second seed) against Princeton (seventh seed) at 6:00 p.m. on February 28th.

Knox County (fourth seed) vs. Milan (fifth seed) at 4:30 p.m. on March 1st.

Top-seeded Canton earned the first round bye. The Tigers will take on the winner of the Knox County vs. Milan match up. That game is scheduled for March 3 at 6:00 p.m.

If the Tigers can get by LaPlata they would play at 9:00 p.m. on March 3rd against the winner of the Schuyler County vs. Princeton dual.

The boys championship game will be played at 7:30 p.m. on March 5.

All District 5 games will be played at the Schuyler County High School gym in Queen City.
