Pepsi Donating Vehicles To Area Fire Departments

It’s Christmas time for area fire departments. Wait, it is February and these gifts wouldn’t fit under the tree next to the fireplace anyway. Regardless of the holiday, nine different fire departments have received vehicles courtesy of donations made by the Pepsi-Cola Memphis Bottling Company.

The fire departments in Bonaparte, IA; Cantril, IA; Lancaster; Clark County; Scotland County; Edina; Wayland; Downing; and Greentop were recipients of the vehicle donations.

The local company offered used ½ ton and 1-ton pickups, ¾ ton vans and step vans that are being replaced in the soda distributor’s fleet.

“Over half of the vehicles are going to be used by the fire departments,” said Mike Johnson of Pepsi. “The other departments plan to sell the vehicles and raise money to purchase other items the fire departments need. Right now all of the fire departments have a need for newer equipment or fire-fighting gear.”

Pepsi-Cola donates the vehicles to the not-for-profit fire departments and in exchange receives tax deductions in their value.
