Downing Man Seriously Hurt In Crash East Of Lancaster

A Downing man suffered serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash in Schuyler County at 10:21 p.m. on March 1st.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Ronald A. Schupbach, 55, was westbound on Highway 136 in a 1991 Plymouth van at the time of the accident. The report indicated that Schupbach’s van failed to negotiate a turn at Sanchez Road, five miles east of Lancaster. The van ran off the south side of the road, where the driver apparently overcorrected, causing the van to strike an embankment and overturn several times before coming to rest on its wheels facing east, on the south side of the road.

The driver was transported by the Schuyler County Ambulance Service to Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Schupbach was issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, failure to drive on right half of the roadway, and failure to produce insurance.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Department, Schuyler County EMS and Scotland County EMS.
