SCMH Marks 35th Year With Continued Progress, Expansion

National Hospital Week, May 8-14, 2005 will be celebrated at Scotland County Memorial Hospital amid construction and new building projects.

A nuclear camera and scanner are now online in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center. The nuclear scanner allows patients to have their heart monitored as Dr. Pargulski (cardiologist), watches the movement of blood as it travels through the interior of the heart. The patient is moved into the scanner as the heart is watched on a monitor screen.

Dr. Pargulsky is available at SCMH in Memphis on Thursdays.

The SCMH Radiology Center has additional new digital technology providing instant and precise X-ray images which can be sent anywhere digitally.

The new East Wing addition to the Scotland County Memorial Hospital (SCMH) will be home to the “Cradle-Of-Care” Birthing Center in Memphis. SCMH was the recipient of a grant from the Missouri Foundation for Health (MFH). The architect & contractors will begin work this spring on the new birthing center. The OB addition will be funded by a $1,318,255 grant from MFH, which in February awarded 15 other grants across the state totaling more than $7 million.

The Scotland County Ambulance Service has a new building to house the service’s modular trucks with phase one of construction nearly complete, on the Sigler Avenue entrance.

Additional projects and programs at Scotland County Memorial Hospital will be introduced as the hospital moves into its 35th year of continual operation.
