Westhoff House Destroyed By Early Morning Fire
A Memphis family was left homeless by an early morning fire on Tuesday, May 31st. The blaze destroyed the Scott and Angela Westhoff residence located just outside the east city limits of Memphis.
The homeowners reported the fire at 4:31 a.m. The fire department arrived on scene at 4:36 a.m. and found the garage on the north end of the house completely engulfed in flames. The blaze spread through the ceiling of the home before the flames were finally doused.
Firemen were hindered by a lack of a water source close to the home, but ultimately brought the blaze under control, preserving the basement and much of the south side of the home, allowing the residents to evacuate many of their personal items.
The fire consumed the garage, destroying the family’s two vehicles. It also destroyed much of the roof of the residence, causing extensive smoke and heat damage to the majority of the home.
The fire department was on the scene until shortly after 9:00 p.m.
