Sheriff’s Deputy Busts Meth Lab Near Crawford

A Scotland County man remains in jail on a $25,000 cash only bond following his arrest on drug charges last week.

Alan W. Rush, 53, was arrested on August 29 by the Scotland County Sheriff’s Department. He is facing several charges after officers discovered what is believed to be a methamphetamine lab at his rural property.

According to the sheriff’s department, officers executed a search warrant at 6:30 p.m. that evening at the residence located north of Crawford on Route B. Several items used to manufacture meth were seized at the residence.

The arrest resulted from a multi-agency investigation. The sheriff’s department was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, North Missouri Drug Task Force and the Southeast Iowa Drug Task Force.

Rush has been charged with possession of anhydrous ammonia in a non-approved container, a Class D felony. He also was charged with attempt to manufacture a controlled substance (meth).

Rush is scheduled to appear in court on September 20 at 9:00 a.m.

The sheriff’s department asks the community to continue to report any suspicious activity, particularly watching for unusual vehicle activity or abnormal action at unoccupied buildings and structures in rural parts of the county. Please call 465-2106 with all prospective crime stopping tips.
