Relay For Life Blitz Of County On October 26

On Wednesday, October 26, American Cancer Society staff will blitz Scotland County with Relay For Life information. All staff from the region will spend the day visiting with past teams and sponsors and trying to recruit new involvement for 2006.

“Relay For Life blitz is a great way for us to get out into the community and personally thank past participants for their support of the American Cancer Society Relay For Life, as well as try to recruit new participants,” said Brenda Carlin, income development specialist for the American Cancer Society. “It gives us an opportunity to talk one on one with community members and explain the importance of supporting Relay For Life”.

Relay For Life will be held on June 16-17, 2006 in Scotland County.

Volunteers and community members are needed to help recruit sponsors, form teams, recruit survivors, coordinate logistics, and lend support in any way. If you are interested in helping out, please call Brenda Carlin at (573) 221-4660.

Relay For Life is a fun-filled, overnight event that mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate survivors, remember loved ones, and raise money for the fight against cancer.

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy, and service.
