Scotland County Cancer Fund Celebrates First Anniversary

The Scotland County Cancer Fund was formed just over one year ago and the chairman, Margaret Curry said, “It has been a great success and well supported by the community. We have been able to help 10 people receiving treatment for cancer. When we started we were able to give each person $50.00 to help with gas, medications or other expenses associated with their treatment. With the success of the program we have increased that to $250. We are in the process of getting our 501c3 filed.” The purpose of the organization is to fill in the gaps where needed.

Everyone who has been helped is greatly appreciative of the help. Donations, fund-raisers or memorials have raised all funds. All money stays within the county to help residents of Scotland County.

Curry also said, “We are always looking for fund-raiser ideas or volunteers to help on a fund-raiser committee.”

Anyone wanting more information or to make a donation may contact Margaret Curry or one of the other board members, Chris Tinkle, Dave Trueblood, Kim Nicoli, or Brenda Wilson. Donations may be sent to Margaret Curry, R.R. 2, Box 167, Memphis, MO 63555.
