Fire Destroys Combine at Norton Farm

The Scotland County Fire Department responded to a combine fire on the Danny Norton farm near Hitt at 4:01 p.m. October 28th. The machine, which was owned by Nevin Martin, was completely destroyed by the blaze.

More than a dozen volunteers answered the call, with four fire trucks being dispatched to the scene. Firemen doused the combine and put out the flames that had consumed approximately one acre of the cornfield. The department was on the scene for roughly 45 minutes.
