Shooting in Gorin Under Investigation

A Gorin man was seriously injured in a shooting in the small Scotland County town at 1:16 p.m. on Sunday, December 18th. The incident has been labeled as an accidental shooting by investigators.

According to the Scotland County Sheriff’s Department, Robert A. Dundee was shot in the left foot when a deer rifle accidentally discharged. The accident occurred in Gorin at a residence near the town’s ballpark.

Officers from the sheriff’s department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene following reports of shots being fired. Gorin first responders and the Scotland County Ambulance Service treated Dundee at the scene and then transported him to Scotland County Memorial Hospital. He was later transported to Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.

The anterless portion of the Missouri firearms deer season ended on December 18th and investigators indicated that the firearm likely was being transported for hunting purposes when it accidentally discharged, injuring Dundee.
