Funeral services for Doris June Saunders of Pasadena, MD, were held at Stallings Funeral Home, Pasadena, MD, on February 6, 2005.

Doris, formerly a resident of Memphis, MO, died of cancer on February 3, 2005, at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, MD.

She was born November 12, 1924, in Azen, MO, the daughter of Clava Veree Schell McDaniel and Henry Varley McDaniel of Memphis, MO. Grandparents were Peter Schell and Sylvia Wade Schell of Bible Grove, MO.

Doris graduated from Memphis High School in 1943.

She married George A. Saunders of Newton, IA, in 1953. She bore two sons, Edward Lee Whiteside and Gary Michael Saunders.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Vance McDaniel; a sister, Arla Aliene McDaniel and one son, Gary Michael Saunders.

Survivors include her husband, George of 52 years; one sister, Ava Louise Thurber of Glen Ellyn, IL; one son, Edward L. Whiteside of Pasadena, MD; three grandchildren, Meghan Whiteside of Monroe, GA, Matthew Whiteside of Orlando, FL and Michael Lee Whiteside of Crownsville, MD; three great-grandchildren, Michael, Sage and Aidan Whiteside of Crownsville, MD.

Doris was a devoted wife and homemaker, a devout Methodist, and a Past Worthy Matron, Order of Eastern Star, Greensburg Chapter. She was a very fun-loving person, enjoyed traveling and greatly loved having all her family and good neighbors close by. Upon retirement, she and George lived in Memphis, MO until 2002, when they moved to Maryland to be closer to their family and friends.

Family and friends may visit at Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, on Saturday, February 12, 2005, 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Gravesite services will be held at 4:00 p.m. at the Memphis, MO Cemetery. Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO is in charge of local services.
