MARY ALETHA HENDERSON

Mary Aletha Henderson, 89, of Memphis, MO, passed away February 18, 2005, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital, Memphis, MO.

Aletha was born September 26, 1915, in rural Scotland County, MO, the only child of Roy Lee and Demma Mustoe Southmayd.

She was a graduate of Memphis High School.

She married Lonel Robert Henderson on March 10, 1937 in the Methodist Parsonage, Memphis, MO.

She was a member of the Brock United Methodist Church. She lived all her life on the same farmstead on which she was born, except for the last 11 years, which were spent in the Scotland County Care Center, Memphis, MO.

She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She excelled at all the domestic arts. She will be sadly missed by her family.

Aletha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lonel; and son-in-law, Harry Robeson.

Surviving are one son, Freddie Henderson and wife, Carla, two daughters, Mary Margaret Robeson, and Crystal Riebel and husband, Roger, all of Memphis, MO; six grandchildren, Lon Robeson and wife, Mary of Kansas City, MO, Laurie Ward and husband, Jim of Memphis, MO, Lisa Orton and husband, Mark of Memphis, MO, Jeff Henderson and wife, Rynee of Ottumwa, IA, Ranina Robinson and husband, Brian of Altoona, IA and Amanda Riebel and fiancee, Chad Alshouse of Altoona, IA; three great-grandchildren, Cody and Cheyenne Ward of Memphis, MO, and Kassidi Henderson of Ottumwa, IA; two step-great-grandchildren, Craig Orton of Ottumwa, IA, and Brandi Orton of Memphis, MO; one sister-in-law, Leona Keesey of Keokuk, IA and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family has suggested memorials to the Brock Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 East Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Funeral services were held February 22, 2005, at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, with Pastor Terry Lippstreu officiating. Music was by Joan Hinds, organist, and Terry Lippstreu, soloist. Pallbearers were Bill Hall, Tom Riebel, Larry Miller, Stanley Eggleston, Stanley Humphrey, and Steve Morris. Interment was in the Brock Cemetery, Scotland County, MO.
