LENA BROWN LANCASTER

Lena Brown Lancaster, 96, of Memphis, passed away March 1, 2005, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.

The daughter of Charles Kidd and Mattie (Baker) Jeffrey, she was born on May 14, 1908, in Scotland County, MO.

She married J. Calvin Brown on August 27, 1927. He preceded her in death February 1963. She later married Garland Lancaster, who died October 1973.

Lena was a hard worker and operated the family farm until her retirement to Memphis in 1980. She enjoyed crafts, restored antique furniture, and loved to travel.

She was a member of the Four Corners Club, a member of the McGrady Cemetery Association for thirty years, and was also a lifetime member of the Bible Grove Christian Church.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Roberta; two grandsons, Terry Coffrin and Tony J. Bennett; a sister, Mable Stice; a brother, Morris; and two sons-in-law, Rex Coffrin and Billy J. Bennett.

Survivors include three daughters: Aloha Coffrin of Memphis, MO, Norma Fincher of Memphis, TN, and Nola J. Bennett Joy of Keokuk, IA; one son, C. Eugene Brown of Memphis, MO; grandchildren: Tom and wife Patricia Coffrin of Memphis, Kevin and wife Brenda Brown of Columbia, MO, Peggy and husband Arthur Winter of New York, NY, Devin and wife Jennifer Brown of Columbia, MO, and Connie and Jack Rauen of Phoenix, AZ; and great grandchildren, Lauren Shea Brown of Columbia, MO, and Jason Coffrin of Sarasota, FL.

Funeral services were held on March 5, 2005 in the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO, with Pastor Jack Sumption officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Larry K. Wiggins, Larry Jackson, Larry Riney, Terry Simerl, Tom Coffrin, and Devin Brown. Honorary bearers were Mike Walker, Arthur Winter, Kevin Brown, Clark Mustoe, and David Wiggins. Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO.

Memorials were suggested to the Scotland County Care Center or to the Scotland County Nutrition Site and may be left at or mailed to Gerth Funeral Service, 115 S. Main, Memphis, MO 63555.
