SYDDNY GERALDINE SKIRVIN
(6/2/1921 – 3/16/2005)



Syddny Geraldine Skirvin, 83, of LaBelle, MO, passed away March 16, 2005, at Northeast Regional Hospital in Kirksville, MO.

She was born on June 2, 1921, at Gorin, MO, the daughter of Denver Russell and Frieda Alene Cox Hustead.

On May 10, 1942, in Gorin, MO, she was united in marriage to Selbourne Skirvin and he preceded her in death October 18, 1998.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Alice McCabe; three cousins, Roe Ewing, Clark Ewing, and Vernon Ewing.

Surviving are three daughters, Frieda Barnett and husband, Marvin of Centralia, MO, Zela Edwards, and friend, Jack Mason of Kirksville, MO, and Syddny Heimer and husband, Kenneth of LaBelle, MO; a grandson, Christopher Heimer of West Burlington, IA; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Geraldine was a graduate of Gorin High School and taught school one year at a country school. She was an operator for the LaBelle Telephone Office, a Sarah Coventry Jewelry dealer and was in Fuller Brush sales for many years.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of LaBelle, MO, a past member of the Sorosis Study Club and a member of the LaBelle Chapter #316 Order Of Eastern Star. Geraldine enjoyed taking care of her grandson, playing cards and having coffee with friends.

Funeral services were held March 19, 2005, at the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO, with the Reverend Maynard Blackwood and Pastor Bill Nigus officiating. Burial was in the LaBelle Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jim Zahn, John Zahn, Donnie Zahn, Melvin Heins, Mike Wilson and Donald Dawson.

Order of the Eastern Star services by LaBelle Chapter #316 were held March 18, 2005 in the Coder Chapel in LaBelle, MO.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Geraldine Skirvin may be made to the American Cancer Association or to the donor’s choice. Memorials may be left at or mailed to the Coder Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 151, LaBelle, MO 63447.
