DORIS JEANNE HOWARD

Doris Jeanne Howard, 77, of LaBelle, MO, passed away Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005, at the LaBelle Manor Care Center

She was born March 28, 1927, to Fern Fulton in the home of her grandparents, Elzie and Lucy Fulton in rural Knox County. The family moved to Lewis County in 1939, where she attended LaBelle schools.

Doris Jeanne married Lewis Howard, May 9, 1943, in the LaBelle Presbyterian Church. After World War II they moved to the house in the west side of LaBelle, MO, where they lived their entire married lives.

Doris Jeanne was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a member of the Memphis Presbyterian Church and a member of Chapter AT of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis, a daughter, Jeanne Fulford and husband, Bruce of Hyde Park, UT; a daughter-in-law, Dr. Carole Howard of Broken Arrow, OK, and seven grandchildren, Jeanette Robins and husband, Matt of Sarasota Springs, UT, Chris Heimrich and husband, Willy of St. George, UT, Denise Neish and husband, Brandon of Detroit, MI, Will Spriggs and wife, Kami of Carrollton, TX, David Howard and fiancee, Petterlie of Broken Arrow, OK, Dan Howard of Broken Arrow, OK, and Thomas Howard and wife, Lex of Stillwater, OK.

She is also survived by two nieces, Mary Couch and husband, David of Edina, MO and Peggy Gaines and husband, Dennis of Shelbyville, MO; two great-nieces and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Jim Howard, who passed away December 5, 2004.

Funeral services were held March 30, 2005, at the Coder Funeral Chapel in LaBelle, MO, with burial in the LaBelle Cemetery with Rev. Charles W. McCracken officiating. P.E.O. memorial services were held March 29, 2005. Memorials may be made to the Memphis Presbyterian Church or the donor’s choice and may be left at or mailed to Coder Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 151, LaBelle, MO 63447. Casket bearers were David Howard, Dan Howard, Tom Howard, Brandon Neish, David Couch, and Dennis Gaines. Honorary casket bearers were Will Spriggs, Matt Robins, Willy Heinrich, Bill Hunziker, Lloyd Wehrmann, John Ewalt, Bob Scoggin, Tom B. Primm, and Steve Whitaker.
