Thelma Irene Bentley, 92, formerly of Milton, IA, passed away March 31, 2005, at Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, MO. She had been at the nursing home approximately five years.

She was born on April 4, 1913, near Troy, IA, to Homer N. and Emma A. (McVey) Downing.

In 1930, she married DeLouse Akey in Memphis, MO, and to this union bore three daughters. On February 5, 1950, she then married Louis Bentley in Gary, IN. They lived in Indiana for many years before moving to Milton, IA. After 26 years she was moved into the previously mentioned nursing home.

She is survived by her three daughters, Pauline Lasley and husband, Bob of Columbia, Joyce McGoldrick and husband, Wayne of Lancaster, MO, and Doris Blake of Gillette, WY; three sisters, Velma Kenney, Helen Bernstorff, and Laree Huff, all of Milton, IA; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis Bentley; three brothers, Lester, Ernest and Victor Downing; two half-brothers, Garnet and Floyd Downing; one great-grandson, Jason Lasley; one great-granddaughter, Michelle Lasley.

Thelma’s body has been cremated.
